EXHIBITION ‘SURREAL SENSIBILITIES’ BY XANDRIA NOIR

A TWO-ARTIST SHOW

EXHIBITION BY RENOWNED ARTIST (PAINTER) XANDRIA NOIR.  CONTINUOUS IMAGINATION PRESENTED IN BOLD ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM IN KARACHI PAKISTAN.

Xandria Noir presented her work at Art Citi gallery on April 18, 2015. The show comprised of two artists. Co artist Khusro Sabzwari dispalyed his sufi style work along with Xandria Noir’s abstract expressionism and digital art. The gallery space was divided into two sections enabling clear view of both artists’ distinctive resolutions.

Xandria’s work consisted of 16 medium to large size canvases. Her works was bright and smooth at the same time. She works on producing very intimate effect in her work by placing foreground and background with communicated discipline of interactive layers with two contrasting colors. The effect attracts eyes and glue them in pursuit of mystery that stays concealed in her work. Xandria Noir mainly uses bright colors. Her unique color combos juxtapose with unified balance, which can be seen established with very initial movement of her hands on the canvas. Her work shows the process of her thinking and evolution from the first layer reaching its height in the last.

According to Xandria none of her paintings should be considered ‘completed’. “The moments I start a piece in, make a window through which I see the dance of my imagination contemplating the concept. I think link by link and never stop the process. Every time I am in front of that painting, the window opens again and there seems so much more to deliver. So much that I still continue to think. No painting is complete because the window never shuts.” says Xandria.

Her most popular pieces were ‘Momentary Insanity’ I and II. The balance of purple and pink removed the cliche concept of feminine colors and showed strong pounce at the viewers.

‘Silence’ was another hit – a digitally produced six feet wide art with a mysterious girl’s face appearing thrice in a row hushing the viewers. The pastel colors of this piece gave very quiet environment around its space.

‘Sunlight Through A Broken Door’ – a yellow painting – produced with blending texture of black imperfect circles on print like base of bright yellow captured viewers shutters for long.

‘Dream Girl’ – a digitally produced print – was another mysterious girl appearing from moving tree branches as if someones’ dream, was a subject of discussion.

‘Searching Peace’ a six feet long painting with mostly monotone effect appeared to be favorite of most. The painting looked continuous length of search with high and low spikes formed by thick and thin brushes at the same time.

The exhibition ended with great appreciation by the attendees who wished to see more in future.
