All I hear, when I go out, is ‘you can’t do this; you can’t do that.

What is happening to people? What kind of rules are being made these days? Where is the logic?

I went to Dunkin Donuts to buy 8 donuts. The salesperson told me that I couldn’t get 8 donuts in a box because the box is either for 6 or 12 donuts. I requested if he could put 8 in a box of 12 or 4 in a box of six. He refused. Reason: COMPANY POLICY. They charge by the box. Whether you keep one donut in a box of 6 or all six, it is charged for all six. Logic? NONE!

Will it cause any problem to anyone in the world if, just like local bakeries, they can fix 5 donuts in a box of 6?

In Karachi (I am talking about DHA and Clifton), parks are closed during the day. They open 5.30 am till 8 am, remain close till 5 pm and then open till (I guess) 10 pm. Then close again. WHY?

Why can’t they stay open 24/7? If a person wants to sit in fresh air, he has to look at the watch first. I asked why they are closed. Answer: DHA/Cantonement/KDA rule. Logic: NONE. If they fear that nomads will inhibit the parks then why are their guards hired for all parks? Can’t they control? If they say, they have to water the park. Can’t they do it while people are walking or sitting?

I see police on roads checking vehicles of people who don’t even look remotely close to being a thief, dacoit, terrorist or mugger. Will a man with murder weapon or military weapon stop to have him checked? People with this potential do not choose routes where there is security. Why our police is not trained to read people or scan them like hawks? (hawks are better than our police and authorities.) I see policemen holding people, checking, arguing, humiliating for no reason at all. (While the bad elements drive by smiling). All this mumbo jumbo on roads and yet people are still getting robbed and shot at same extent in Karachi.

In DHA, on main roads in phase 6 and 8, the authorities have blocked half of roads with barricade allowing only one car space to pass zig-zag. Reason: SECURITY. Logic: NONE. Consequences: Extreme traffic jams during rush hour. (I hardly doubt, in any sane state, any criminal will take these roads.)

The mosque nearby my house has installed loudspeaker right in front of my house. My life has become hell. The moazzam (person who calls azan) has the most terrible voice. He calls azan in a way that you would want to put fingers in your ears (I do that). Azan is supposed to be sweet not like as if your throat is being cut. I complained to DHA to change the moazzam and they said he is just fine and it is a holy duty. According to the mosque, I was going against Islam. (WHAT???) All I need is one good voice in the neighborhood. Why there are no standards when it comes to mosques? It’s torture 5 times a day BUT they don’t want to change him. He says ALLAH in a way that the name is extended for 10 seconds. (Imagine hearing AAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…………instead of Allah.) His azan sounds like mourning on the dead. It should be motivational. But changing it is not possible.

I am so fed up with this nonsense.
