Just a couple of days ago, someone asked the same question I have been asked many times before. “Why do you wear tights under a dress?”
This time, I did not want to respond. So I thought, I should write.
Here is why…
I, somehow, do not like Pakistani clothes. (Yeah, you can frown as much you like.) I find them very disturbing. Hence, I am always in dresses or tops. I keep my legs covered 65 percent in order to avoid becoming someone’s bedroom fantasy.
In the West, boys grow up watching their mothers and sisters wearing shorts, dresses, tank tops and bikinis at home and out. It is normal. Boys understand that female skin is, well, what should I say… just a skin. A woman’s nude legs or shoulders are not subject to erotica. A woman, for them, does not show skin to seduce them. In spite of the fact that they also watch porn, they still do not believe that every woman who is dressed with her legs exposed is a sex symbol. For them, watching porn is nothing more than a hand job required due to relationship crisis or relationship absence. I would like to call it a ‘chore’ not lust.
On the contrary, in sub continent and Middle East, boys grow up having women in house covering themselves to the most. On the beach, they see girls wearing full clothes (some even ‘burka’). Bikini, for them, is under garment. They have been taught, from the very beginning, that a girl with ‘skin’ is not respected. (In other words, she is a whore.) Boys begin the process of socialization, after they are five, and come to the words ‘shame, shame’ when a little girl is mistakenly seen in her underwear.
For them, this is normal.
When they are grown up, they come to realize (of course by the family) that the only free and legal way to see a naked woman is to marry one. (Or four. He is entitled to legally sleep with four women simultaneously without being judged.) In their belief, every other woman, who is showing skin, is simply practicing seduction, surely not entitled for respect. Watching nude skin of a woman is a ‘forbidden fruit’ for them. And what does a man do when something is forbidden? HE GOES AFTER IT.
He watches porn but his intention is purely lust.
Naked legs become, simply, a path leading to female genitals. A source to open the world of erotic imagination in his brain. Two limbs, simply used for walking and kicking ass, become the stimulants of sexual pleasure.
I have experienced watching very educated, well-traveled Muslim men staring at female legs without a slight tremble in their pupils. (If you haven’t, then you are not observant enough.)
Today, after reading this, I am sure, not a single man or woman will surrender into agreement with my review. It is normal. Just get the humour 🙂
(I hope the new generation, which is growing up under western influence, does not follow these steps.)
Note: This observation is based only on men born after 1960’s. The generation in Pakistan before this period was very open-minded.
